Advantages of various bond diamond grinding wheels

Aug 19, 2021

Superabrasive grinding wheels made of diamond or cubic boron nitride abrasives have been widely used in various aspects of the grinding field because of their excellent grinding performance. Diamond Grinding Wheel The hardness of the diamond abrasive determines the main characteristics of the diamond grinding wheel, which can efficiently grind hard alloys, glass, ceramics and other difficult-to-machine materials, and the grinding tools have the longest service life. The diamond grinding wheel uses diamond abrasive as raw material, and uses metal powder, resin powder, ceramics and electroplated metal as binders respectively. The circular bonded abrasive tool with a through hole in the center is called diamond grinding wheel (alloy grinding wheel).

Diamond grinding wheel is a special tool for grinding hard alloys, glass, ceramics (raw materials: non-metallic minerals), gems and other high-hardness and brittle materials. In recent years, with the rapid development of high-speed grinding and ultra-precision grinding technology, higher requirements have been placed on grinding wheels. Ceramic and resin diamond grinding wheels can no longer meet the needs of all production. Metal bond grinding wheels have high bonding strength. , good formability, long service life and other significant characteristics and has been widely used in production.

Metal bond diamond grinding wheels mainly have two types: sintering and electroplating according to different manufacturing methods. The diamond grinding wheel uses diamond abrasive as raw material, and uses metal powder, resin powder, ceramics and electroplated metal as binders respectively. The circular bonded abrasive tool with a through hole in the center is called diamond grinding wheel (alloy grinding wheel). In order to give full play to the role of superabrasives, a new type of grinding wheel, that is, a single-layer high-temperature brazed superabrasive grinding wheel, has been developed abroad since the early 1990s using high-temperature brazing technology. At present, this kind of grinding wheel in China is still in the research and development stage.

Sintered diamond grinding wheel Sintered metal bond grinding wheel mostly uses bronze and other metals as the bonding agent, and is manufactured by high temperature sintering method, which has high bonding strength, good formability, high temperature resistance, good thermal conductivity and wear resistance, and long service life. Can withstand large loads. Due to the inevitable shrinkage and deformation of the grinding wheel during the sintering process, the grinding wheel must be reshaped before use, but it is difficult to dress the grinding wheel. At present, the grinding wheel-to-roll shaping method commonly used in production is not only time-consuming and labor-intensive during dressing, but also more diamond particles fall off during the dressing process, the dressing of the grinding wheel itself consumes a lot, and the shaping precision (precision) is low.
